We found that when we moored in a stream off the gulf, the current could do all sorts of things to make pulling an anchor up difficult. The currents seem to be at least 3 mph. Add a second anchor and a swinging current and the fund begins!
Leaving Everglades City Stream, we headed north first passing Naples (above) and later Fort Myers Beach. Do you notice the differences? Similarities?
The Beach at FMB is made up of lovely white sand.
A pretty sailboat follows up the channel to FMB.
The beach wraps around to the inside channel.
We pass a “Beach Cat” on the way behind FMB Island.
We stayed here on our way down and remember the nice people that work at Moss Marina. It was also three days and time for us to take a shower in very clean bathroom, do laundry with machines that actually work (maytag) and fill our water and gas tanks.
Remember the Casino Ship at the end of the dock. It is moored on Dock A (we are in A-16) and when they need to gas it, it is back up in front of Docks B & C from 7 to 9:30 a.m. That's a big ship!
After docking and showers, we take our $25 bikes and head to town (3 blocks). No one steels them! Another delicious fish dinner at Tuscan Beach Restaurant and then hunt for a Grocery store. We hear that Publix is 3 miles down the main drag. No way do we ride our bikes after dark in Tourist Traffic. It is spring break!
But after dark we can do laundry, internet, blogspot, TV news and enjoy the bright lights as the Casino Boat crew cleans the ship!
